The new year is almost here and with it comes a flurry of New Year's Resolutions. While it's always tempting to give up on resolutions after a few months (or a few days, for some of us), there are ways to keep yourself on track. Since we're plant-obsessed, we came up with four ways plants and gardening can help you stay on top of your 2018 goals.
- Eat healthier. If your goal in 2018 is to eat more veggies, look into starting a vegetable garden or grow fresh produce in containers. Not only will you have fresh fruits and veggies at your fingertips, you'll also get the satisfaction of eating the (literal) fruits of your labor. BloemBagz Raised Bed Planters are great for growing produce; sturdy fabric and handles mean you can move them inside and out as weather allows.
- Get a cleaner home. It's easy to let clutter and dust build up, but one easy way you can make your home cleaner in 2018? Houseplants! Houseplants filter the air in your home, helping you breathe free of harmful chemicals and particles. Spider plants, ferns, peace lilies, and english ivy are just a few common houseplants that improve indoor air quality.
- Cook more. We're all guilty of turning to fast food and takeout when cooking seems like too much of a chore. One way to encourage yourself to cook more in the new year is to keep fresh herbs in your kitchen. Grow rosemary, parsley, basil, and other favorite herbs in an herb planter on your kitchen counters. Cooking with herbs you grew yourself is so much more satisfying - not to mention yummier than using dried herbs!
- Be more active. Everyone could stand to move a little more. While jogging and hitting the gym is preferred for some, we like to work in extra movement by gardening. Making time to get outside in the garden each week is the perfect way to stay active, soak up fresh air, and move a little more.
Happy new year!
