Holiday Decorating with Plants

November, 2017

The holidays are right around the corner and it's time to bust out the mistletoe and hang twinkly lights. Make your holidays merry, bright, and full of greenery with these ideas for incorporating plants into your holiday decor:

Evergreen boughs. Anything evergreen is the obvious choice for the holidays, but shake things up by arranging pine boughs in decorative vases around your home for a twist on the classic tree or garland.

Twinkly lights. Trees aren't the only greenery that can be lit up. Give potted plants a festive, magical look by stringing them with battery-powered fairy lights.

Christmas cactus. Poinsettias get all the credit when it comes to potted holiday plants, but if you're looking for something different try a Christmas cactus. This pretty little cactus is low maintenance, long lived, and with proper care will bloom every year around the holidays.

Holiday herbs. Wreaths are a decorating staple this time of year. If you're big into herb gardening, show off your favorites by fashioning an herb wreath out of a styrofoam wreath form and dried bay leaves, lavender, sage, rosemary, and other herbs.

Happy holidays from all of us here at Bloem!
